A new book for us!

Texting and Expecting... again!

I remember when handheld calculators first came out. Our first computer was a Commodore 64, and I could barely navigate getting the little dot across the screen in Pong, or "jumping to the jetty" in our first interactive computer game. And, forget about Pac Man! Only the kids mastered that.

Texting was introduced in 1992, and now Billions of text messages are sent every year. My first introduction to texting was from my adult daughters who insisted that I try this new and fun way of communicating. I had barely been introduced to computers! I thought it magical that I could write a message on the screen and it would reach its destination in seconds. A marvel!

Now they wanted me to hold a little phone in my hand and press buttons to send them messages?

One of my daughters bought me a cell phone and it sat in the desk drawer for months, simply because I was ashamed of my ignorance to give it a whirl. When I finally mustered up the courage to learn and then sent my first text, like so many others I became addicted to this form of communication. What was popular with the young people is now a huge hit with the adults.

It’s like sending notes in school, except there’s no sound of note paper being torn, and there’s no innocent secret looks when the tiny piece of paper is passed. I barely answer the house phone now, knowing that most calls are solicitors. Friends who know me know that I can be reached via a call to my cell phone or more often, a text.

Jeffrey Underwood and I communicate through texting, most of the time since we live 3000 miles apart. We have perfected our typos so that we know exactly what the other is saying. In one year, Jeff and I have actually written not one, not two, not even three, but four books by texting one another and gathering our information.

As with anything new, there are rules. Always remember the big rule of texting – NO texting while driving. There are some other rules that we're going to share with you. Lighthearted rules for all walks of life. We want you to be informed! It's our newest book Rule of Thumb & Fingers. It's a book of humorous illustrations of texting rules for everyone, including the President and the Queen!

We'll keep you posted as to its "birth".. right now we are in labor and progressing.

LOL! It’s going 2 B a gr8 book! THX 4 reading us, and we’ll C U L8R.
